How did you start working remotely? Was it something you sought out or stumbled into?
I started working remotely because my office space was moved creating a 55mile (one way) commute. That was 3-years ago and I have not looked back. It has been difficult to convince people I am working, even though I am not in the office, but I have been successful and more productive ever since.
Most days I work from home, but if I need to do something “in-town” I’ll drop in at the local sandwich/coffee shop to “get-connected”.
I recently re-located to Flagstaff to be closer to family and am looking for new opportunities as a Data Architect/Modeler.
What do you do for work and for fun?
The light of my (an my wife’s) life is our 3-yearold granddaughter. I love taking her out to the parks and disc golf courses in and around Flagstaff.
I make a living as a Data Architect/Modeler designing Data Warehouse/Business Intelligence systems. I recently took a RIF package from a major phone company and looking for other opportunities.
What cities do you call “home” and why do you want to be a Workfrom ambassador?
Flagstaff
How did you find out about Workfrom and why do you want to bring it to your area?
I found Workfrom on the job board site REMOTE.CO while searching for opportunities. I wanted to connect to as many people working remote as possible. Casting the net very wide for a new position.
Flagstaff is a stepping-off point for many National Parks (Grand Canyon being the biggest) and I wanted to help people who are on vacation find good places to work while in town.
Any tips you’d like to share for others wanting to or already working remotely?
Take opportunities to work remotely when they are given and highlight your increased productivity!
What do you like most about Workfrom, and what would you like to see above all else come from us in the next year?
Finding friendly places to Workfrom in unfamiliar cities is a big deal when traveling.
A job board would be awesome!!
