How did you start working remotely? Was it something you sought out or stumbled into?

I was in my second year at university when I first heard the term “freelancer,” and thought, that is what I want to be… that was 1996.
The idea of owning your time, and future, is very liberating. As you grow as a freelancer, you start wondering whether you should rent space for yourself. It started when I went out for coffee taking my laptop with me to get work done. I fell in love with the idea, I kept at it. Everyone around was adopting the same idea, and soon, it became the norm to work remotely.

Do you still work remotely?

Yes

What do you do for work and for fun?

I am a UI/UX developer, building web-based applications to new products and startups. I jigsaw like nuts.

What cities do you call “home” and why do you want to be a Workfrom ambassador?

Amman, I want to help my friends find work places in a city not at all covered on workfrom

How did you find out about Workfrom and why do you want to bring it to your area?

I googled hard to find websites specialised in gathering a database of work-friendly locations. Finally found this website through producthunt.com.
I found one location for Amman, which was disappointing. I want to increase this trend for two reasons, we have a lot of places in Amman where people can work and study, second, Amman is a very smoke-friendly city, finding a smoke-free location is challenging, but not impossible, I want to bring public-awareness to the side effects of smoking by encouraging those shops that prohibit smoking.

Any tips you’d like to share for others wanting to or already working remotely?

Keep doing it, it pays off as you go along. Keep an eye on the budget too, there are places you can work in for the whole day without needing to spend anything, but do visit coffee shops and order coffee, this way you help their business grow, which helps you and others continue to work remotely.

Any tips for those wanting to visit and work from your area?

Do not go to hubbly-bubbly coffee shops, look it up on workfrom, or on Jeeran first (to check their smoke-free status). Traffic is a mess, but Google Maps gets it right 90% of the time.

What do you like most about Workfrom, and what would you like to see above all else come from us in the next year?

I like how simple it is to add locations, and share them. It might be challenging to edit later, and help owners take ownership. I wish a “none-smoking” flag is built-in!
