Pioneer Q & A
How did you start working remotely? Was it something you sought out or stumbled into?
I actually don’t have the opportunity to work remotely much of the time, but I really wanted to not be tied to a small college apartment, when I only spend 32 weeks a year needing to be there. With a little effort, getting things done on the go allows me to spend more time away from SIU.
What do you do for work and for fun?
Full time student, reading all I can and trying to make a difference wherever I am at.
What cities do you call “home” and why do you want to be a Workfrom ambassador?
I live in Carbondale, Illinois most of the time. Classes hold me hostage and I love to travel, I would not be able to do that without generous businesses and hosts around the U.S.
How did you find out about Workfrom and why do you want to bring it to your area?
I don’t actually remember, it was a while ago. I want to end painful commuting standards for my peers.
Any tips you’d like to share for others wanting to or already working remotely?
Anyone can do it. Most of what you think of work is busywork. Take some risks and really value your own time and comfort.
Any tips for those wanting to visit and work from your area?
It can be hard to put down the screen, but take advantage of local parks. Nothing like it.
What do you like most about Workfrom, and what would you like to see above all else come from us in the next year?
The community aspect. Here it feels like the effort I go to does not go to a large company that could pay for its data, but to fellow weary travelers under a deadline.
