How did you start working remotely? Was it something you sought out or stumbled into?
The work I do is digital, and after a recent layoff, I found another, better job that happened to be remote. Technically I stumbled into this, but I was already prepared by past remote volunteer work.
Do you still work remotely?
Indeed
What do you do for work and for fun?
I’m a web developer, both for work and for fun, and also like travel and attend sci-fi conventions. It’s even better now that I don’t have to take time off, I can work from the hotel if I need to.
What cities do you call “home” and why do you want to be a Workfrom ambassador?
I work remotely 100% of the time. My primary location is Beaverton, OR but I want to expand on that as I go.
How did you find out about Workfrom and why do you want to bring it to your area?
I heard about it through a former coworker. I want to bring it to Beaverton because we’re always ignored here as a suburb of the mighty Portland, when in fact we have a thriving community that doesn’t necessarily even visit the actual city of Portland on a regular basis.
Any tips you’d like to share for others wanting to or already working remotely?
Self-discipline is a huge must. If you can’t focus when the boss isn’t around, working remote might not be for you.
Any tips for those wanting to visit and work from your area?
Don’t take 26 or 217 during rush hour and you’ll be fine.
What do you like most about Workfrom, and what would you like to see above all else come from us in the next year?
Just the facts, ma’am. I like looking up potential “offices” by features best.
