How did you start working remotely? Was it something you sought out or stumbled into?

This is my 10th year working for myself, which started with a desire to be location independent and travel. A few years ago I went from freelancer to web development agency owner. The team is entirely remote and geographically distributed (although I’m the only nomad, a few have moved cities while working for us).

I’ve spoken about it here: https://wordpress.tv/2014/06/10/jon-brown-finding-worklife-balance-as-a-remote-worker/

…and occasionally I write about it here: https://wanderingjon.com/ and https://jonandelena.com/

What do you do for work and for fun?

Web Development (now run a agency doing that). Fun, love the beach and ocean… love eating delicious food around the world.

What cities do you call “home” and why do you want to be a Workfrom ambassador?

Full time nomad and tend to avoid “cities”, but frequent: Bali (Ubud, Canggu, Seminyak), Italy (Rome, Cortona, Turin), Spain (Barcelona, adding Madrid soon), Dominican Republic (Santo Domingo), Thailand (Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Koh Samui, Koh Phangan), Laos (Luang Prabang)… in the US which is only about 2 months out of the year California (LA/OC, Idyllwild, Joshua Tree), Maui (Haiku, Paia, Lahaina), Pennsylvania (Doylestown), New York (New Paltz, Lake George)… well you get the idea…

How did you find out about Workfrom and why do you want to bring it to your area?

Heard about it a long time ago. Lost interest because it was so “US city” focused. Getting interested in it again as it’s expanded 😀

Any tips you’d like to share for others wanting to or already working remotely?

Oh gosh… sooo many….

What do you like most about Workfrom, and what would you like to see above all else come from us in the next year?

Better work space discovery (global, not city based).
