How did you start working remotely? Was it something you sought out or stumbled into?

I stumbled into it. I have been writing code for a long time. Professionally for a decade. I managed to find myself in a clinical trial niche. Next thing I know I had old coworkers telling me I could work from home at their company. I’m still not sure my company knows I’m on the road, only that I like to work from coffee shops 😉

Do you still work remotely?

Indeed. I don’t think I could go back to an office again. I don’t like dress codes and I slowly warm up to the idea of hair cuts…

What do you do for work and for fun?

I’m a software developer for the moola. For fun I like to find new addictions to things that at one time scared me. Current list includes: Stand up Comedy, Rock Climbing, Flying (Cessna 172), skiing and now I’m working my way toward being homeless…

What cities do you call “home” and why do you want to be a Workfrom ambassador?

Fort Collins, CO

How did you find out about Workfrom and why do you want to bring it to your area?

I found Workfrom when I was looking for viable working spots while in Austin. I was on the road, but didn’t have a location to work picked out. I wanted to dodge bad wifi so my work didn’t figure out I was on the road. Workfrom became my knowledge base. Now I like scouting out towns I visit while I’m on the road so that way I can help other like minded people. It’s a cool part time job.

Any tips you’d like to share for others wanting to or already working remotely?

If you get to work remotely don’t waste it in your house, or even your town. It can be a little intimidating to drive 20 hours in any direction hoping you have everything to do your job. But there is a whole lot of life out there, make sure you find it with this rare opportunity.

Any tips for those wanting to visit and work from your area?

If you make it into Fort Collins definitely check out our coworking space Cohere. The people are all friendly and the environment feels like a home. Oh and don’t miss the Bean Cycle. Chill coffee shop with cool poetry books.

What do you like most about Workfrom, and what would you like to see above all else come from us in the next year?

The speed test is a nice piece of data. Otherwise I like that there is a community of people who are like minded. Like portable coworkers.
