How did you start working remotely? Was it something you sought out or stumbled into?

I wanted to work remotely for a while. I started just doing a day here or there once a month or so. Then at the next company I was at, as they were going out of business I decided to spend as much time practicing remote working as I could while I had little pressure not to do so. Then I landed my first fully remote position because I have a niche set of skills my employer needed.

Do you still work remotely?

Yes.

How did you find places to work from before Workfrom?

I would just hear of places word of mouth or stumble in when I saw them. Though, this was problematic because of bad Internet issues, cell reception, power issues, bathroom access, or music selection.

How did you find out about Workfrom and why did you want to bring it to Seattle?

My co-worker who works remotely in Portland told me about it. I was super excited to see it launched in Seattle to help me find more places to work from more efficiently and now I hardly ever need to work from a corporate-owned cafe.

What would you like to see above all else come from us in the next year?

I think more coverage is the most important thing with easier ways to add a location. This might include partially adding it and being able to add more info to finish it or to go beyond the basic info. If this is easier, more users will do it and the quality of the data would improve.

Any tips you’d like to share for others wanting to or already working remotely?

Always tip baristas and bus your tables and be friendly, so they don’t mind us hanging out all day.

Any tips for those wanting to visit and work from Seattle?

Capitol Hill has the spots with the coolest music, so that’s probably where you should go.
