How did you start working remotely? Was it something you sought out or stumbled into?

After leaving a job as a morning DJ on a national commercial radio to follow my start-up dreams I found myself working from home for the most of my time. That’s great for a couple of months but that it starts to suck big time. So I started to plan my daily tasks in a way that I can work from my home office for a couple of hours and then also go to different places for meetings or any work really. It’s great to have an office every day in a different place.

Do you still work remotely?

Yes. It really depends on what work do I have to do. As a CEO of a start-up I still have 4 jobs in one person so I found out that I perform better on some tasks working from home and some of them from other places that give me a different perspective on things.

How did you find places to work from before Workfrom?

Maribor is a small town so I basically haven’t got a problem to find some places that I really like. But since I started talking with other people that also started to add places to Workfrom I found out that there are a lot more options. I discovered some new spots that I haven’t really thought about.

How did you find out about Workfrom and why do you want to bring it to Maribor?

It’s one of those ideas that you see and go… Why haven’t I done this!? It’s so simple but on the other hand Workfrom is so well executed. Simple, modern and clean design.

Maribor is the second largest city in Slovenia and we have a wild start-up scene going on. My aim as a Workfrom ambassador and a member of the city council is to give all my love and passion to make our city the best place around for start-ups and freelancers. Being small a lot of times is a great opportunity.

What would you like to see above all else come from us in the next year?

I’m pretty sure you will build a great mobile app. That will help your product a lot. Adding places would be much easier and quicker but especially searching for the best rated and closest places via geolocation would be a great plus.

Any tips you’d like to share for others wanting to or already working remotely? 

Keep focused and stick to the plan. Sometimes working from a remote and funky place can be great but other times you might be destracted. But if you are just starting and you feel that you are being distracted too much just stick to the idea and I’m pretty sure that you will get used to it and you will start enjoy it after a while. And maybe you can do like I started doing. I do some tasks from my home office and others from other places. That’s the situation for me where I can perform best.

Any tips for those wanting to visit and work from Maribor?

Maribor is a great, cute small town in a perfect location in southern Europe. If you like good wine plan to stay for at least a week and taste a lot of unbelievably great wines that our region produces. You also have to take your selfie in front of the oldest grapevine in the world (more than 400 years old). Maribor offers also a lot of sports opportunities so you can either relax enjoy nature, sports or work from nice places by the river or in the old town. If you come for a visit contact me and say hi!
