How did you start working remotely? Was it something you sought out or stumbled into?
I started my career working in creative industry and worked from the office living room and coffee shops. As I progressed I moved up into more traditional office environments and felt they were missing the life and energy of shared/non-traditional work spaces. Now I am searching for them and taking my company on the journey with me.
What do you do for work and for fun?
Work is all about cultural change and spreadsheets (two things that don’t often go together!). I am leading a programme that aims to modernise the company’s ways of working and reduce traditional office space.
What cities do you call “home” and why do you want to be a Workfrom ambassador?
London, UK; Vancouver, Canada. I started my career in non-traditional work spaces and have moved to a more traditional office environment. I find it isn’t as good so am moving back to more remote working and want to encourage others to do the same. Always great when you can meet and collaborate with others who are doing the same.
How did you find out about Workfrom and why do you want to bring it to your area?
It took a fair amount of searching but want to find and contribuite to a pool of places likeminded people can work and collaborate. It seems the idea of row upon row of desks in an open plan office is growing tired for most people. London and Vancouver are my home cities and there are plenty of places to add!
Any tips you’d like to share for others wanting to or already working remotely?
Give it a couple weeks and look for a friendly face to say hello to – don’t be shy.
Any tips for those wanting to visit and work from your area?
There are so many places to check out already on the app – visit one, grab something nice to eat, and be sure to update with any new places you discover while you’re here.
What do you like most about Workfrom, and what would you like to see above all else come from us in the next year?
I like the ease of seeing where nearby places are with a quick search on my mobile. Over the next year it would be great to have some improvements to the mobile UI – filtering on attributes, ability to see a list of places with distances from you rather than just map view, etc.
