Workfrom helps mobile workers find the best coffee shops, cafes and shared spaces in Chicago

CHICAGO, Illinois –, the fastest-growing resource for mobile workers and business travelers to find a reliable space to work, announced that it will be expanding its network to Chicago on April 20, 2015. The service has already rolled out in several U.S. and international cities including New York, Los Angeles, Portland, Seattle, Omaha, London and Amsterdam.

Workfrom shares cafes, coffee shops, bars, libraries and co-working spaces that locals and travelers have recommended. Unlike review-based apps, Workfrom focuses on being a match-maker: matching people to the best places for their work styles and needs. A variety of filters help members find locations with reliable WiFi, power outlets, standing desks, group seating, alcohol, food and more.

Co-founder Darren Buckner explains, “In today’s world, many of us require only a laptop, a smartphone, reliable access to the Internet and a good space to work. The key is knowing that we can be productive where we land.”

“And where we feel welcome,” adds co-founder Jewel Mlnarik. “Workfrom is more than a list of mappable places—we’re a community that includes the owners and the patrons of the spaces we love to visit.” Workfrom’s manifesto, which all members agree to uphold when they join, declares, “We support work-friendly businesses with our money and evangelism.”

Like-wise, the businesses support the members via benefits ranging from free coffee at their cafe to discounted drop-in rates at their co-working space. “If someone wants a place to come work, I support that. If someone wants a place to come and play games, read, chat with friends, etc. I support them, too. This place is as much the people that run it as it is the people that come to be here,” shares Natasha Stille, owner of Nectar Cafe in Portland, Oregon, where Workfrom began.

Buckner and Mlnarik are thrilled about the pace at which location independent workers and business owners have embraced their vision. And they’re excited to soon call Chicago another home. “Chicago has a rich history of innovation and industry, and we’re looking forward to playing a role in its future.”
