Urban Grind Coffee House and Roaster +2

Workability Rating

"Ask for a temporary WiFi code when making your purchase. If you're planning on staying a while, get in on the bottomless coffee! The network limits access, so if you need SSH don't plan on working here. Bathroom code changes. Last reported as 0420.2 hour time limit for wifi, but just buy some food or another drink to get a new code and another two hours. Max 3 hr street parking right outside available for $2/hr. Single tables along window with benches are comfortable and have outlets for each table which was nice. Comfy lounge seating areas available too. GREAT staff - very friendly!"

I have been working at Urban Grind on / off for well over a decade. Good assortment of seating configurations. Power available throughout space. Can get quite crowded and quite empty. Mid morning and mid afternoon slow down. Streetcar stop close by. Easy car/bike parking. Music choice gets annoying and loud sometimes depending on staff. Sometimes perfect (e.g. Bowies’ Low or Eno). Staff sometimes insist on propping front doors open even when it’s quite cold out which is the rare only thing that has me packing up and moving on.

  • Wifi is on point.. Coffee is terrible.

  • the wifi is annoying me today, about 1 of 10 web connections simply fails. time to get my Karma out.

Also not loving the taste of the mocha. Still like the place.

Good Wifi. You need to ask for the temporary code when you order. It’s usually valid 24 hours although if you become a regular they will often give you a weekly pass. Great selection of loose leaf teas. I don’t drink coffee so can’t vouch for it. Friendly staff and owners. Atmosphere is cozy and the music provides an atmosphere but is never too loud. Nice couches, leather seats available. Also large tables for meetings. Good place to work from!

I saw a sign on the door today that they are applying for a liquor license. The barista I spoke to said Urban may be getting beer and wine, and staying open later. There’s a lounge area with leather couches and a flatscreen TV.

    • Great updates. Thanks!

If you have problems with the wifi, don’t be afraid to let someone know. The person I talked to was super helpful.

  • wifi requires a temporary code. Ask for it when you’re buying your coffee. The network limits access too- if you need ssh, it won’t work.

    Bathroom code is 6282.

    • thanks for the pro-tip!

  • Great space, great owner. He made a point of mentioning the fast wifi, bottomless coffee (what?!), and that he really wants people to come work here.

    • thnx for the pro-tip!
