How did you start working remotely? Was it something you sought out or stumbled into?

I coincidentally started using Buffer personally as I was starting to plan a cross country move. I discovered they were hiring and were a remote team. Initially, the product and company culture drew me to Buffer, remote working is what made it all possible. I hadn’t been looking for remote work, it just happened to work out that the company I wanted to work for was a 100% remote team.

Do you still work remotely?

Yes and I’ve grown to love it! I am the only one on our 24-person team based in NYC. I work from Projective Space most days and other days from home and various coffee shops.

How did you find places to work from before Workfrom?

I mostly yelped “coffee wifi” and hoped for the best. Sometimes I would stop outside of the door of coffee shops and check my phone for wireless networks before I even walked in.

How did you find out about Workfrom?

I was on a “work-cation” in Los Angeles and wanted to find some interesting places to work from. I asked my coworkers for ideas in our main HipChat room and my coworker Mary found Workfrom and sent me a link. It was exactly what I was looking for.

What do you like most about Workfrom?

Most of all I love the mission it’s trying to accomplish. From a product perspective, I really enjoy how locations are nicely grouped by what I’m looking for/need at the time, ex. Open later, has food, etc. The speed tests are also awesome!

What would you like to see above all else come from us in the next year? (e.g .you mentioned a reminder – to ask if you want to add a new location when your phone/laptop recognizes a new network)

I would love to see some social aspects to the locations. I think it would be awesome if I could up vote/put my “stamp of approval” on an existing location. Editing/seeing all places I’ve added on a single page or profile would also be pretty cool! It would also be pretty wild if there was an app that could detect you were on a new wifi network and ask you if you’d like to add that new location.
