How did you start working remotely? Was it something you sought out or stumbled into?

Over the last few years, I’ve been very intentional about creating my life in the way I want to live it. I first started working remotely when I started my own Etsy business (which has sense fizzled out) and my own small coaching business. I now work remotely for a startup in Sydney called Selz.com as a community manager and work anywhere there’s wifi & coffee & outlets.

Do you still work remotely?

Sure do! I am currently looking for new jobs in remote community management & content creation as well.

What do you do for work and for fun?

Hang out in Portland coffee shops, go to comedy shows, travel, go to the beach, read books, create art, hang out at Townshend’s, look for murals, go on walks & find beauty everywhere.

What cities do you call “home” and why do you want to be a Workfrom ambassador?

Vancouver, WA & Portland, OR 🙂

How did you find out about Workfrom and why do you want to bring it to your area?

I think I found out about it from the Portland area section on meetup.com; Workfrom is already here.

Any tips you’d like to share for others wanting to or already working remotely?

Research! There are a ton of resources online that tell you what companies are hiring for remote working. My current role is with an organization that only has two remote workers with the rest in an office, so figure out if you’re OK with being one of a handful of remote workers if the company has a physical office, or if you’d prefer to work with a fully distributed team.

Any tips for those wanting to visit and work from your area?

Go to Townshend’s on Alberta! 🙂

What do you like most about Workfrom, and what would you like to see above all else come from us in the next year?

More collab & spotlights on companies that are fully distributed and perhaps a job board, or a way to connect with these companies if you’re looking for remote work.
