Tell us the story behind Umpqua Bank’s new Portland Location. We hear it’s one of a kind!
We designed the space to foster the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of Portland.
Our city’s landscape is changing quickly, with amazing new businesses and buildings seemingly born every day. There’s a clear sense that we’re on the move, creating a thoughtful and forward-thinking community. Our aim is to bring out the best in us, and to bring us together.
All of our neighbors are welcome to visit and make themselves at home. Beyond banking, we built a place for you to think, pause, reflect, strategize, and bring your ideas to life.
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I’m Jim Stephens, and feel fortunate to be the manager here. I’m a lifelong Oregonian and Umpqua veteran, and I love working with entrepreneurs and small businesses. I like being able to help people take their ideas and their dreams and turn them into something tangible.
Why did you choose this location for your new branch?
It doesn’t get better than this. The energy and history of this part of town is really incredible. We hope a lot of folks will get to experience our unique style of banking because of this great location.
What makes your space great for getting work done?
Quiet, comfortable conversation can be enjoyed throughout the space, and anyone in the community can host a private meeting and reserve a conference room, equipped with Skype-enabled flat screens, laptop connectors, and floor-to-ceiling, magnetized dry erase boards. In fact, the entire store can be reserved before or after hours for special events. A giant projector screen is available for presentations to larger audiences.
Additional amenities include complimentary wifi, charging cables, wireless printing, Umpqua’s signature coffee, and an assortment of Smith Tea.
Why do you feel it’s important to support our community of high-mobility workers, students and independent professionals?
We support creativity and entrepreneurship, and want to offer a space where those things can happen. Every business and every idea starts small, and needs a lot of love to grow. We want to help.
Name two things we should know about your new space when we choose to work from there.
1. The staff is here to help. Don’t hesitate to ask for anything.
2. Free cookies on Fridays.
