It’s been said time and time again that many of the best ideas come from scratching your own itch. They come from drinking your own champagne and eating your own dog food. There are several idioms to describe doing something because of a personal need that has yet been served. The pain points are clear and you are your own customer.
We need a better way to find great Coffee Shops and Cafes that are also great for working.
In Portland there are approximately 900 Coffee Shops, Coffeehouses and Cafes. It stands to reason that finding a good place to get some work done would take little to no effort. If you’re one of us who have done the “coffee shop circuit” here in town, you’ll likely have a good handle on several really great places. These are shops with reliable WiFi, comfortable seating, plenty of power outlets and a work-friendly environment where staying for 3-4 hours hovering over your laptop is welcome. You’ll also know finding these places was not as simple as it would otherwise seem.
The thing is, we all have different needs, likes and dislikes when we look for a good place to work. Some of us look for fast WiFi. Others look for low background noise – plenty of power outlets and food options. Sometimes it’s important to have natural light or the right kind of music playing to help create a certain vibe.
Unless you’ve already worked from a place, it’s hard to know what you’re in for before you walk through the door.
Eventually, we all seem to gravitate towards locations that answer yes to a few important questions.
- Are there others here working just like me?
- Can I comfortably work from here for extended periods of time?
- Is the WiFi reliable? I don’t want to go if I can’t keep a good connection.
At Workfrom we are building the best way to find Coffee Shops, Cafes and Coffeehouses that are first and foremost, work-friendly. We are building this for us; and for others like us. We know finding a reliable place to get some work done is not simple. Until now, it would usually involve asking around and Google searches that lead to Yelp reviews, that lead to incomplete or irrelevant information about key information.
It should be simple and we are focused on making it that way.
We are bringing key information to the forefront. Before you take your chances, we show you the WiFi speeds and network details. We show you how likely it is to find a seat and what to expect if you need a power outlet to plug into.
We simply show you reliable places to get some work done and we are doing it because it’s exactly what we need.
