This is part one of a two-part travel blog by Eva and Sam, aka the TravellingEntrepreneurs.
Hello fellow traveler, nomad, or other awesome individual!
If you’re reading this, you’re probably one of “us” — the people that bring their laptops to public places and plonk down wherever the words “Free WiFi” appears, order a coffee and get to work typing away.
We’ve visited some pretty awesome countries in the last two years so we thought we’d share a few we’ve been to in the first two months of 2016. Do check out our WorkFrom profile for other places we’ve visited, but our brief for this one was: last couple of months to make it as current as possible.
Our main criteria for when you consider these places, be they in your place of abode or a city you’re traveling to soon:
- Fast, free Wifi (we spend a lot of time creating web pages and uploading videos so this is a must)
- Good coffee (Sam’s a coffee snob)
- Plugpoints (there has to be at least one!)
- Good food
So here we go, from the top of the world, down to the bottom… starting with Russia and Thailand!
Brown Bear Grill
ул. Пушкина, 54/1, Казань, Татарстан Россия (Russia) (Kazan)
We bit the bullet and decided to go to TripAdvisor for their suggestion of where the best ‘American’ food was in Kazan. The reviews weren’t wrong: great food for sure, especially the burgers and beer selection! Best of all? Come in, play a board game, or better yet…take out your laptop and type away using their free Wifi (password at the back of the menu) – they won’t be mad 🙂
Coffeeshop Company
ул. Баумана, 38/17, Казань, Татарстан Россия (Russia) (Kazan)
A great franchise that’s slowly taking over Russia for its long hours, inventive coffees and great food. Ask for the Wifi password and order at the counter, and stay as long as you wish…there’s enough seats and plug points to go around!
Traveler’s Coffee
ДК «Академия» (ул. Ильича, 4), Новосибирск, Новосибирская обл. 630090, Россия (Russia)
If you find yourself in Siberia, you’ll be happy to know that even here, they serve coffee! And have Wifi! Relax at this café as you get your work done: the staff speak English, and there’s no worry of ordering the wrong thing: you get given an iPad which comes pre-loaded with their menu, prices, upsells and even changes to English! So you can order right from your table on that, and have the order there for you within minutes as you settle in to do some work.

InterContinental Bangkok, พระนคร, กรุงเทพมหานคร 10330, ประเทศไทย
Relax from the hustle and bustle of Thailand’s capital in this street café, adjoining the beautiful Intercontinental Hotel. Forget you’re in the very centre of a busy city, and settle in for some fast WiFi and great food and drinks! And when you’re done, there’s plenty of air conditioned malls around to do some well-deserved shopping after you’re done.
